John Tyler Esq. Governor of the Commonwealth of Virginia, To all whom these presents shall come Greeting: know ye, that by virtue of a Land office Treasury Warrant N.978 issued the 13th December 1794, there is granted by the said Commonwealth, unto William Gragg A certain Tract or Parcel of Land, containing Thirty Seven acres by survey bearing date the 6th June 1797, lying in the county of Pendleton, on both sides of the north fork of the south branch of Potomac river, adjoining the east sides of his own land and bounded as followeth to wit: Beginning at two spruce pines on the bank of said fork, thence S.40.E.31 poles to two Gums on the bank of a run, thence S.55.W.48 poles to three Gums on a steep hill side, thence N.45.W25 poles crossing the fork to a sycamore near his former corner, N.21.E.60 poles with the former line to a stake in a field [corner] of said line, north 160 poles to a sugar stump at the fork, then S.30.E.72 poles crossing the said fork to a cedar and white pine on a hill side and thence S.W.W.120[pwa], to the beginning with its appurtenances; To have and to hold the said Tract or Parcel of Land with its appurtenances, to the said William Gragg -- and his heirs for ever.
