My Dr. Col:

Taking time by the fore
lock I send you four checks, one
of $1000 - and two of $627 each on the
Farmers Bank, Petersburg, and one
of $46 - on the Farmers Bank at Richmond,
with which I wish you to take
up two acceptances of $1150 each which
fall due about the 24 last from your
mother to me. I do not know what 
is the difference of Exchange but sup
pose it to be from 1/2 to 1 percent.
Whatever it is settle it for me and
I will return it at an early date.
I divide the checks so that you will
if necessary negotiate them at different
places. When you have redeemed
them enclose them to me.
We are all well, little or no sickness
in the County, but distressing
by day and we get on seeding wheat
very slowly.
