Sherwood Forest June 13. 1852 My Dear Col: On the opposite sheet you will find three checks on the Farmers Bank of Virginia at Richmond for seven hundred and fifty one dollars (33 1/3)/ 100 and seventy dollars in Bank bills for the redemption of Mr. Gardiner's acceptances which fall due on the 19th Aust. the one at the Union Bank and the other I think at the Bank of New York. I shall be minus something for the difference in exchange which when ascertained I will either remit or hand you when either Julia or myself shall visit you. But for my ill health I shd. have bought bills in Richmond but I could not get away from home and am even now writing you in pain having passed a terrible day yesterday. I am able this morning to walk about which I was not yesterday afternoon, and trust that I shall soon regain the ground which yesterday's attack caused me to lose. With love to all Truly Yrs John Tyler Col. D. Gardiner
