President's Mansion

My Dear Sir;
I have recieved and laid before the President with much pleasure, the resolution transmitted to me by you, as then [?] of the governance association of the city.
For the German population of the country I have (and so has the President) the most unaffected respect and good will. Of all my german acquaintances I hardly found one intemperate man, or one man who is not an exemplary & useful citizen. They are for the most part hardworking & honest men.
For yourself you have my esteem & it will offer me great pleasure to advance your interest & that of your fellow countrymen.
