Gay-Teague Hotel E. C. Taylor, Manager 531 South Perry St. Montgomery, Ala. My dear Lyon: I am writing just a line to let you know that my heart is with you in your times of darkness. Your sorrow must be great, but I trust your hope is even greater. See these world jars will end at last & there will surely be a bright & beautiful tomorrow - these will cause real recompense, a happy renewal of the old and a joy that no man, not death itself, can steal away from us. Affectionately Robt. Tyler Sisters Lettie and Lizzie ask me to extend to you their and sympathy R. T. 125 Lex. Y. when I will give him a chance to have a business education & try to put him to work. It seems about the only chance left. Sen. William & Mary College, Williamsburg, Va. Dear Lyon:- I thank you very much for the pamphlet containing Gordon's speech at the unveiling of the Tyler Monument. I have read it with much interest and think it a peculiarly clear account of Grand-father's patriotic life. The picture of the monument, too, and the half tone of Healey's portrait were exceptionally fine. I am indeed glad to have the pamphlet. I regret very deeply that, at the last moment, I found it impossible to attend the unveiling ceremonies at Richmond; as I fully anticipated being able to do so! The Alabama contingent of Tylers was, however, well represented in the persons of Sister Lousie and Priscilla Griffin. Believe me. Very affectionately yours, Robt. Tyler
