My dear sir

		Your letter of the 9th. inst was recd by due course of the mail.
	I am extremely happy to hear that your health has not been impaired by the incessant fatigue to which you have been exposed especially since your entrance upon the land of steady habits. The extreme heat of the weather during your greatest fatigue excited strong apprehensions for your health. Now that the weather has become moderate, and your fatigues are diminishing I fondly hope you will realize all the improvement in the state of your health which was anticipated from the tour in which you are engaged.
		Accompanying this letter is a communication which recent occurrences, & your absence from the city seemed to render necessary.
