| Abstract: | A two volume manuscript chemistry text book prepared by John Millington for the chemical class at William and Mary, beginning with the session 1844-1845. Inserted between the pages actually written by Millington, are printed pages from Principles of Chemistry, by Daniel B Smith. This PDF was digitized from the University Archives Bound Volume Collection in the Special Collections Research Center in Swem Library in April 2011. | Description: | John Millington joined the faculty in 1835 as professor of Chemistry, Natural Philosophy and Engineering. He also offered a class in medicine, which prepared students to go on to further studies in a medical school. In that class he taught anatomy, philosophy, material medica, and pharmacy. This attempt at medical education lasted until 1848. |
