Audio Recording of the 1961 Baccalaureate and Commencement Speeches at the College of William and Mary

Abstract

This audio recording was digitized from a reel-to-reel audiotape of the Baccalaureate and Commencement speeches at the College of William and Mary in 1961. Introductory remarks were made by William and Mary President Davis Y. Paschall; the Baccalaureate speech was made by Vernon B. Winthrop, pastor of University Baptist Church in Baltimore, Maryland; and the Commencement speech was given by Winthrop Rockefeller, Chairman of Colonial Williamsburg, Inc. The reel-to-reel tape was digitized by Swem Library staff in June 2011. The original tape is found in the University Archives Audiovisual Collection (UA 58), series 1, subseries 1, box 4, item 26. Most users will want to listen to the .mp3 files as they are smaller in size.
