Congratulations on Jefferson's return to Albemarle County and testimony of citizens' esteem; Jefferson elected representative to the General Assembly at an early period in his life and at a "very critical era of public affairs"; Jefferson merits their "warmest approbation" for the discharge of the trust placed in him; citizens are "particularly happy" to observe his attachment to the rights of mankind; would wish him to stay among them, but recognize that America's need and Jefferson's merits require his continued service to the country. |
