Author: Peale, Rembrandt, 1778-1860
Abstract: Will make a copy of his portrait of Jefferson for thirty dollars; because of the difficulties presented by the front face, the fact that it is a copy will be obvious; was disappointed in the print made from this picture; had hopes that the second would be better but was still disappointed; the poor state of engraving as well as painting in this country is due to the want of encouragement.
