Abstract: Concerns Jefferson's trip to Calais; stopped in Breteuil and Montreuil; the trip took a total of six days; Jefferson thanks William Short for his letter and inquriry about Martha Jefferson Randolph's health; Jefferson is very busy with social and ceremonial obligations; heard news from America; the Virginia Assembly runs and has passed several laws on descents, religion, duties; Jefferson will most likely not have a map of Virginia ready until May for Monsieur Michel Guillaume St. John de Cr�vecoeur and Abbe Andre Morellet; Jefferson will leave to return to Paris on April 5th; Col. David Humphreys will most likely have left Paris before Jefferson returns; give respects to the Marquis de Lafayette.
