David Humphreys will be named in that capacity; Smith is secretary of legation for John Adams to London; a bill of the Caisse d'escomte for two hundred livres enclosed in letter; received letters from America; the system of Congress not yet decided; John Francis Mercer married to Miss Sophia Sprigg; Jefferson has not heard from James Monroe in months; William Short should arrive soon; Col. David Humphreys is well; John Quincy Adams leaves for New York and Count de Doradour will accompany him to Virginia. |
