dc.description.abstract |
Concerns the sale of arms held by Schweighauser and Dobrée; has heard that Jefferson wrote to Ferdinand Grand that the guns were to be shipped to the United States; hopes that this is true and that Jefferson will settle the matter before he leaves Europe; regret that Jefferson will not sell the arms to Messrs. Jacquiert and Bosset because they think this would be easier than transporting the guns; cannot convince their associates to accept Jefferson's proposal because they do not know the people Jefferson wants to involve; suggests they use merchants in Nantes who are familiar with maritime and customs laws in order to suit their partners in the house of Puchelberg. |
