Abstract: | Concerns business that Jefferson has in Amsterdam concerning payments to Mr. Ferdinand Grand and the state of Virginia; letter arrived from the Commissioners of the Treasury that called for delay on the payments until the money arrived; instructs William Short to inform Grand of these developments; the Count Elenore Francois Elie de Moustier's arrival in New York; forgot to tell Monsieur Pierre Samuel Dupont de Nemours of the arrival of Dupont's son; asks William Short to apologize for the mistake; leaves tomorrow for Utrecht and Nimeguen; will follow the Rhine to Frankfurt and Strasburg; will return to Paris when the roads become impassable; encloses bill for 100 louis and instructs Short on how to divide it; rent due the 15th; Mr. Ferdinand Grand to pay it if Jefferson has not returned; John Bannister. Sr. and the seeds and plants to be sent to Adrienne Catherine de Noailles, Comtesse de Tesse; regards to Madame Sophie Ernestine de Tott. |
