Abstract: Encloses a letter addressed to them both concerning two young gentlemen; has no personal knowledge of them but has written Secretary at War respecting them; goes from home seldom; finds neighbors expecting was and approving it; willing to meet any tax except stamp tax; some wish whiskey tax could be levied solely on licenses to be issued for selling it.
