Abstract: Jefferson has met William Shippen's son, Thomas Lee Shippen, and has enjoyed his company in Paris; Jefferson has been in Holland part of the time; encloses a letter from Shippen's son; Thomas Shippen has left with Mr. John Rutledge for Brussels; they will most likely follow Jefferson's route through the Netherlands, Germany, Italy and France; claims that Thomas Shippen "will return charged, like a bee, with the honey of wisdom, a blessing to his country and honour and comfort to his friends..."; enclosure of travel plan with list of costs.
