Abstract: Concerns Jefferson's departure from Nice to Marseilles; important letter that must get to John Jay; detailed instructions for William Short on how to get letter to John Jay, including names of several persons to be trusted as couriers: Monsieur de Crévecoeur, Monsieur Andre Limozin; Monsieur Le Couteulx; Jefferson was sea-sick and then very tired as he rode through the Alps; regards to his daughter; requests that any letters be sent to Nantes.
