Abstract: Cautions Short to be careful about the tone and content of his correspondence to Alexander Hamilton, who submitted some of Short's correspondence to the Senate as part of a report on foreign debt repayment; Short's anti-Jacobinism rankled members of Congress as being un-republican, but Jefferson defends Short's reputation.
