Abstract: Knew Jefferson was preparing to return to America; delayed writing as he did not know the fate of [John] Paradise's call on Dr. Bancroft; now acknowledges letter from Paris of Aug. 3rd with two bills enclosed - one on for L124 which was passed, one on Dr. Bancroft for L176 is waiting till next April for payment; has written James Lyle who is empowered by partners to settle all company's affairs in Virginia.
