Abstract: Encloses mortgage of the purchaser of Short's land; comments that the duration of the war is uncertain; it is leading to the increase of domestic manufacturing, which is beneficial to Americans; speculates that Britain's aim is permanent conquest of the ocean, which requires countermeasures, including the taking of Canada, but he will "leave to the vigour of younger minds" strategy.
