Abstract: Had never heard until Campbell's letter that the laurels which Col. Campbell won in the Battle of Kings Mountain were ever questioned; what Campbell heard was from an old man's lapse of memory; Col. Campbell's descendants can rest on the pillow of his renown; Received a letter at the same time from William C. Preston; writing so slow and painful he asks Campbell to please show this to Preston.
