Abstract: "Dr. George [Semple?] was an applicant for the place when you spokle for Col. Custis, and it was decided by the department that no change should be hat at that point. The President (whom I have just consulted) thinks it will not do to make any change under the circumstances"; asks him to tell John Seawell that he would like to see him once more; asks when he is planning to visit Washington.
