Abstract: Is "shocked" by what Gardiner has told him about Beeman; claims that it only proves that VanNess is "treacherous"; believes that VanNess is responsible for a letter in the N.Y. Herald that was "abusive" to the President; feels that in the Aurora matter Gardiner's uncle should be appointed, but if it can't be him, recommends Mr. Cooper. Autograph Letter Signed.
