Is sending the bearer of the letter to Dumfries for a uniform, in order to keep him away from the other troops, because he has had small pox; hopes that men in uniform will, help the recruiting process, which is not going very well; one new recruit lost two fingers from his left hand and wants to be discharged; doesn't want to travel too far to recruit in case he brings small pox home, since his wife is "under inoculation".. |
