dcterms.description This diary begins in March of 1918, and ends in September 1918, and details many of the experiences Hoppin had living in Paris during the war. Throughout the diary, the events of the war are interwoven with Hoppin's own life, including her lunches and the weather in Paris. She also includes information relating to her work with the dispensary and the people she came in contact with. On the 21st of April, Hoppin lists a number of mothers who were most likely received at the dispensary that day, and on May 30, she mentions refugees. In addition to information about the war in general, such as the March 9, 1918 where she detailed the collapse of Russia, Hoppin wrote about the experience of living in a city in the throws of war. At the very end of the June 18 entry, Hoppin mentioned that Paris had been badly bombed and on June 29, opens with "the planes are coming over again." The very end of the diary, separate from her daily entries, includes accountings of things such as board and the names of people and places in Paris.
