Description: A letter from W.T. Early, Charlottesville, Virginia to S.D. Cabiness. He describes the mood in Virginia following the Confederate victories. He believes the "Pan Handle" of the state, with its northern leanings, will be cut off from the state with a thorough chastisement. He describes Virginia troops and officers ("Virginia will be the scene of great events, the...theatre of noble deeds..."). His son attends military school at Lexington Institute. He wishes his son to raise a company in the counties of Jackson, parts of Madison, Limestone, Lauderdale, and Morgantown. He asks his [SDC] opinion of that plan.
