Photograph album, circa 1910-1919, of an unidentified resident of Hampton, Virginia. Pictures are primarily of African Americans and include shots of teachers in a summer program at Hampton Institute, a man in a baseball uniform, formal posed pictures, a trip to Alabama, tobacco leaves, and of the teachers and students of the Lott Carey School, among many others. Some photographs have notations beside them, while the majority do not. Names recorded are S. Vaughn, R. Whiting, L. Bass, S. Bass, M. Bass, Felix, Bertha, Herman, Maggie, and Renard Brown of Norfolk. L. Meyers appears in at least two photos. The photograph album may have belonged to Ruffin P. Boulding and his family, but further research would be necessary to verify. |
