African American Family Photo Album

Abstract: Photo album, circa 1940s-1950s, of an unidentified African-American family, most likely of Richmond, Virginia. Includes snapshots of different family members, photos of family members taken at schools (including Maggie L. Walker High School) and colleges (including Virginia Union University, with shots of the Bell Tower, Kingsley Hall, and Pickford Hall), at church (Moore Street Baptist Church) and at various holidays and other events. Several Richmond streets and landmarks are also featured in the photos, including the State Capitol Building, Executive Mansion, and Capitol Square, the Broad Street Station, the momuments of Matthew Fontaine Maury, Robert E. Lee, and J.E.B. Stuart on Monument Avenue, and the Maymont estate/park.
