Description: Has given great consideration to his claim against the French government, and has turned the case over to Stephen Pleasanton, who is the auditor for the Dept. of State, and who is now handling all claims; since Mr. Pleasanton is a personal friend, and he (James Monroe) is greatly interested in his Burr Powell case, he knows he will get an answer soon; will also be returning the agriculture pamphlet.
