dc.description.abstract Professor Ito was Instructor in Sociology and Anthropology, 1965-1966; Assistant Professor of Sociology, 1966-1971; Associate Professor of Sociology, 1971-2002; and an Emeritus Professor from 2002 forward at the College of William and Mary. Some of the topics discussed in the interview include Ito's experience in a Relocation Center in Arkansas during World War II; Ito's educational background and why he decided to come to William and Mary; the evolution of the Department of Sociology; a discussion on some of the classes Ito taught and developed at William and Mary; William and Mary administration throughout his career; and some of his volunteer efforts with organizations such as the Anti-Racism Commission, Diocese of Southern Virginia, the New Kent County Democratic Committee, and the Human Rights Committee of Eastern State Hospital. An index for the oral history interview of Professor Satoshi Ito is available below. The fourth part of this oral history is no longer available at the request of the interviewee. A copy was given to Professor Ito and all remaining copies of the fourth segment held in Special Collections were destroyed. en_US
