Virginia Phelps Oral History
| Abstract: | This interview was conducted as part of the College of William and Mary Oral History Project. Virginia Welton Duke Phelps moved to Williamsburg in the early 1930s when her husband, Charles J. Duke, was appointed as bursar of the college. Soon thereafter College President John Stewart Bryan asked the Dukes to live in the President's House to help him entertain. The social life at William and Mary in the 1930s is the main topic of discussion in this interview. |
