dc.description.abstract This interview was conducted as part of the College of William and Mary Oral History Project. Mr. Pullen came to Williamsburg at the age of 15 to attend the William and Mary Academy, a preparatory school attached to the college. He stayed on at the College, graduating in 1917. He was a state student, pledged to teach in the public schools for two years in exchange for a scholarship. He was the Maryland state superintendent of education and president of the University of Baltimore. He and Mrs. Pullen, a graduate of William and Mary as well, were faithful patrons of the College. en_US
