dc.description.abstract This interview was conducted as part of the College of William and Mary Oral History Project. Judge C. Vernon Spratley's recollections of William and Mary go back to 1898 when he entered as a second-year student. He finished the teacher training course and graduated in 1901. A few years later he received his law degree at the University of Virginia. He became a circuit court judge and justice of the state supreme court. In 1936 the College conferred an honorary degree upon Judge Spratley. For this interview Judge Spratley spoke off-the-cuff of his years as a student. en_US
