This interview was conducted as part of the College of William and Mary Oral History Project. Nelson Marshall was director of the Virginia Fisheries Laboratory when asked in 1949 by President John Pomfret to serve as dean of the college. After his investigation uncovering the athletic scandal of 1951 he resigned, protesting the handling of the matter by the Board of Visitors.
