This interview was conducted as part of the College of William and Mary Oral History Project. In the midst of World War II, 16 year old Harvey Chappell enrolled at William and Mary, one of few men in the student body. He stayed on through the postwar period, taking his law degree in 1950. He became a successful practicing attorney in Richmond, maintaining his ties with the college, particularly in alumni work and served on the Board of Directors and later as president of the Society of the Alumni. In 1968 he was appointed to the Board of Visitors and served until 1976, being elected to two terms as rector of the board. |
